The primary objective of this continuing nursing education article is to provide otolaryngology and head neck nurses with an evidence-based oral mucositis assessment tool as a first step in a comprehensive program to reduce the impact of this highly distressing side effect of cancer treatment.
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of nurses, nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists whose oncology patients are at risk for oral mucositis in either the outpatient/inpatient clinical settings.
